Welcome to our skiing chalet, La Vieille Ferme

Our ski and snowboarding chalet is in St Gervais, with superb views of the Mont Blanc itself. Located between Chamonix and Megeve, St Gervais forms part of the huge Evasion Mont Blanc ski area that includes Megeve, Les Contamines and Combloux. Geneva airport transfers take only 50 minutes.

This beautifully converted farmhouse provides very comfortable and spacious skiing accommodation. Our four guest bedrooms all have their own bathroom, while Marie's superb cuisine and the good-natured ambiance of our supper table ensures that we have a very high guest return rate. Ski weekends and long weekend skiing breaks are our speciality out of high season.

Keep an eye on our regularly updated Holiday Deals page for discounts and bargains- we often have a few days between weekends available which we offer at very competitive prices.

Guided walking weeks 19th July and 9th August 2014

We are organizing two different weeks this summer as guided walking weeks, Saturday 19th July to Saturday 26th July and Saturday 9th August to Saturday 16th August 2014. There will be 5 hikes each week, taken from a large program of classic walks that make the Mont Blanc region one of the best hiking areas in the world. There are a maximum of eight places available for each week and a minimum of four is necessary for the trip to take place. If we are over-subscribed for either of these two guided weeks, we will organize at least one more.

The basic guided week includes a pick up from Geneva Airport on the Saturday afternoon at a pre-arranged time, very comfortable accommodation at La Vieille Ferme in a twin room, (or double if appropriate!), daily transport to and from walks, a professional, English-speaking local guide to accompany you on the hikes, and a transfer back to Geneva on the following Saturday. Wednesday will be a rest day from organized walking and you will eat in a local restaurant of your choice that evening.

Our price for the 2014 guided weeks is £690 per person per week sharing a twin or double room. This price includes 6 nights half board accommodation and one night B&B only, 5 picnic lunches, 5 days of professionally guided walks, return group Geneva airport transfers at specified times, transport to and from five walks, and transport to and from a local restaurant on Wednesday evening. If you are coming alone and do not wish to share with someone else, a single room supplement is £220 for the week.

Not included in the price are flights, personal travel insurance, the restaurant on Wednesday evening, activities or transport on the day off walking, day to day personal expenses, or the cost of any lifts or mountain trains that we use during the week.

The list of five hikes for each week will be taken from a program of walks that our guide and myself have put together. They are all in our Mont Blanc area, with the closest being a ten minute drive from the chalet, the furthest a 40 minute drive. All will be very interesting for their difference of views, geography, geology, flora and fauna. We will stick to this program wherever possible, however local climatic conditions or circumstances may obligate us to either change the order of walks or the walks themselves. While none of the hikes could be rated as very difficult, some are quite long and the accumulated fatigue of five walks means that we have rated the week as ‘demanding’. Hence, to enjoy the week to it’s fullest, you should be in good physical shape and prepared to walk for up to seven and a half hours in a day with a maximum positive height gain of 1200 meters.
